Ding Darling Refuge Luncheon Fundraiser, April 2025

Exciting news!   Trudy Sampson has been in touch with Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel with her biology work so she had also checked with them about our decorated mannequin project.  They recently replied saying they LOVE having us donate our work to their fundraiser and we are ON for this year's event!

For newbies, this is a fundraiser luncheon and fashion show using only recycled/upcycled materials for the dresses and is a biannual event.  We are asked again to decorate wooden, opposable mannequins (like the ones used for figure drawing reference).  We may use only upcycled/recycled materials, and may not use any bird or animal products, no fur, leather, bone, feathers, ect.  This year's additional rules are that there may be no political statements and all entries must be family friendly.   (darn!, ha ha)

The basic information is:  They will send 35 mannequins to Trudy (thank you Truday) on or about October 4th.  We will need someone to take charge of the project from beginning to end and I'm not assuming it is Trudy. They would like a deadline for finished "dolls" to be March 3rd so that gives us lots of time to work on them.  Last, the luncheon will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd.

I'll let the full membership know in my September newsletter.  If you have any questions, just contact me or Trudy.

Start collecting upcycled/recycled materials NOW!  This will be FUN.
